Advanced Directives

Thinking about end of life issues isn’t comfortable but better to choose what we want now while we are strong and well than burden our loved ones with making painful decisions when they’re distressed and grieving.

Join Rodman Library in welcoming Lori Williams, a registered nurse with Alliance Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice, as she presents a program on making those choices commonly called “advanced directives.” The program will take place on Monday, January 23, at 6 p.m.

“As a nurse, I have seen many patients and families have a misunderstanding concerning their choices [on advanced directives],” Williams said. In educating the public on this topic, she hopes to help people make more informed choices regarding their health care.

The program will feature information on living wills, anatomical gifts/organ donation, Health Care Power of Attorney, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Do Not Resuscitate/DNR, and Do Not Resuscitate Comfort Care/Comfort Care Arrest.

In addition to having a Bachelors Degree in nursing and a Masters Degree in nursing education, Williams is also a certified grief counselor who has worked at Alliance Community Hospital for 18 years.

This program is free and open to the public. No registration is required. For more information, call the library at 330-821-2665, ext. 208.
