Minerva Heritage Holiday events Saturday, July 4, include a Relay for Life-sponsored breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, free swimming the Minerva Pool from noon to 6 p.m., quilt display, flower show, craft show, garden tour from 1 to 5 p.m., Haas Museum open from noon to 4 p.m., patriotic singing at 1:30 p.m., parade at 2 p.m., Minerva High School singing group at 7 p.m. and a movie at 9 p.m.

The Canton Farmers Market takes place from 8 to 11:30 a.m. every Saturday from June 20 through Oct. 17, rain or shine, in downtown Canton in the lot on Cleveland Avenue NW between Fourth and Fifth Streets. There are 23 local vendors, 12 of which are new this year.
The market offers produce, natural meats, eggs, honey, fresh cut flowers and plants from local farmers, some certified organic. A wealth of other products includes local artisan specialties such as breads, cheeses and jams.

Join family, friends and neighbors at Stark County's oldest and largest race, the North Canton YMCA’s 32nd annual July Fourth Race.
The 2-mile race begins at 8:10 am; the 5-mile begins at 8:30. Runners and walkers are welcome.

The Alliance Farmers’ Market is open from 9 to noon every Saturday from June 20 to Oct. 17 at the corner of Main Street and Mechanic Avenue just east of Route 183 in Alliance. Look for the bright-red caboose.
This is a producers-only farmers’ market with a wide variety of products grown or produced locally — vegetables and fruits and herbs, including some organic, baked goods, jams and jellies, cheese, freezer beef and pork, maple syrup, cut flowers and plants.
Other features are musical entertainment and educational sessions and demonstrations.

A one-hour yoga class will be held at Jackson Township's North Park Pavilion at 9 a.m. the first and third Saturday of the month from June 20 through Sept. 19.
The class is beginner-friendly, and a few mats will be available for use. Wear comfortable clothing.
Dr. Katie Eslich of Essentials Chiropractic will be instructing this community class.
Cost is $5 per class.

A new Kent State University Museum exhibit, “The Kokoon Arts Club: Cleveland Revels,” looks back at the iconic club formed in 1912.
The exhibit, which runs from March 19, 2009, through Feb. 28, 2010, highlights the profound effect of the club, whose most memorable activities were the annual masked balls at staged venues around the city. Atwood Lake Park will be the site of a July Fourth celebration July 3-5.
Events begin July 3 at 11 a.m. with a bicycle safety check by the staff of Ernie’s Bicycle Shop. Then at 1 p.m., the park Nature Center opens for the day.

Visitors can discover what life was like aboard a working Great Lakes freighter, the William G. Mather, when they explore the 1925-built Mather from bow to stern and see its huge cargo holds, brass and oak pilot house, elegant guest quarters and four-story engine room. They also can walk the decks and marvel at the “engineering firsts” that helped transform Northeast Ohio into a great industrial center.
The Mather is docked at 305 Mather Way (old Erieside Avenue), north of the Great Lakes Science Center.

North Canton’s Fourth of July Parade will start at 10:30 a.m. July 4 at Hoover High School Memorial Stadium, at 525 Seventh St. NE.
The parade will continue west on Seventh Street, south on Main Street to Harmon Street, and will end at North Canton Middle School.
North Canton Jaycees annual Celebration in the Park will begin at 6 p.m., across from the Dogwood Park pool on Seventh Street NE. Fireworks will be set off at dusk.

Tappan Lake Park will celebrate the Fourth of July holiday throughout the weekend July 3-5.
The park’s annual giant holiday fireworks show is set for July 3 at dark.
Numerous other activities for all members of the family are planned throughout the weekend.
Events begin July 3 with a T-shirt craft at 11 a.m. The Joe Zelek Band will be back from Nashville with a show scheduled to begin at the beach at 8 p.m. The giant fireworks show at the beach will begin at dark, complete with food vendors.

The Lock 3 Rib, White and Blue Food Festival takes place from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. July 2 and July 3 and 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. July 4.

Massillon will hold its July Fourth Picnic in the Park from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. in Stadium Park,at 301 18th St. SE.
Attractions include children’s games, concessions by local nonprofit organizations, the Little Miss Liberty and Little Uncle Sam contests, a tug of war, the Tuslaw Lions’ train ride, food and fireworks.

There will be a Campground Fireworks Show with DJ Brian at dusk July 3.

Canton is hosting the first International Federation of American Football (IFAF) Junior World Championship from June 27 through July 5 at Fawcett Stadium .
Football teams from the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand and Sweden will compete in a double elimination tournament.
Involved in the competition will be 360 players age 19 and younger, 80 coaches from the eight nations and 32 football officials from the IFAF’s 52 member nations.

A larger fireworks show along with two concerts and other activities will be featured at Silver Park in Alliance on July 4.
The American Revolution and September 11, 2001, will be the focus of two organizations that will be present at the July Fourth celebration. The 5th Virginia Regiment will set up a camp and demonstrate weapons and skills used during the Revolutionary War.
