The Massillon Farmer’s Market offers seasonal fruits and vegetables, baked goods, fresh-cut flowers and more from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 11 through Oct. 10 at the Massilllon Recreation Center parking lot at 505 Erie St. N.
To reserve booth space, contact the Massillon Recreation Center at (330) 832-1621. Vendors can pay $80 for the whole season or by the week at $12.

“Sweetheart 5K Run/Walk” for women only takes place 8 to 11 a.m. July 11 at Stark State College of Technology, 6200 Frank Ave. NW, Jackson Township.

The Hospice of Stark County will hold their annual golf scramble July 11 at Lyons Den Golf Course. Shotgun stars at 8 a.m. Event features 18 holes of golf with cart, lunch at turn, dinner catered by Old Carolina and prizes. Team registration deadline is June 30. Proceeds go towards patient care and family bereavement services.

The Canton Farmers Market takes place from 8 to 11:30 a.m. every Saturday from June 20 through Oct. 17, rain or shine, in downtown Canton in the lot on Cleveland Avenue NW between Fourth and Fifth Streets. There are 23 local vendors, 12 of which are new this year.
The market offers produce, natural meats, eggs, honey, fresh cut flowers and plants from local farmers, some certified organic. A wealth of other products includes local artisan specialties such as breads, cheeses and jams.

The Alliance Farmers’ Market is open from 9 to noon every Saturday from June 20 to Oct. 17 at the corner of Main Street and Mechanic Avenue just east of Route 183 in Alliance. Look for the bright-red caboose.
This is a producers-only farmers’ market with a wide variety of products grown or produced locally — vegetables and fruits and herbs, including some organic, baked goods, jams and jellies, cheese, freezer beef and pork, maple syrup, cut flowers and plants.
Other features are musical entertainment and educational sessions and demonstrations.

The first WACO Military Experience, a military show and swap meet, will take place July 10, 11 and 12 in Troy, home of the WACO Aircraft Company. The WACO Military Experience will be at historic WACO Field, site of the WACO Air Museum at 1865 S. County Rd. 25A in Troy. Hours are noon to 5 p.m. July 10 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 11 and July 12.
Military displays include vintage aircraft representing 20th century conflicts along with authentically restored military vehicles.

The Main Street Farmers Market in Louisville operates from 9 a.m. to noon the first Saturday of every month, through October, at 229 E. Main St.

The 25th annual Great Mohican Indian Pow-Wow will happen July 10-12 and Sept. 18-20 at the Mohican Reservation Campgrounds at 23270 Wally Rd. S in Loudonville. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. July 10 and July 11, and 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. July 12.
Pow-wows are the coming together of native American tribes to honor their ancestors and renew their traditions and heritage through dancing, singing, music, dress and food.

A new Kent State University Museum exhibit, “The Kokoon Arts Club: Cleveland Revels,” looks back at the iconic club formed in 1912.
The exhibit, which runs from March 19, 2009, through Feb. 28, 2010, highlights the profound effect of the club, whose most memorable activities were the annual masked balls at staged venues around the city. On display are the posters and costumes, both designed and worn by members at these extravagant balls.

Rodman Public Library will hold the second in a series of classes using basic techniques for rubber stamping and scrapbooking. Projects will be demonstrated in this “make-and-take” class using the marble technique.
The class, open to adults and teens, will be at 10 a.m. July 11 in the Main Library auditorium at
215 E. Broadway St. in Alliance.
Fee is $5 per person for materials.
Registration is required by July 8, and the fee must be paid at the time of registration. The class is limited to 12 people.

Summit Cycling Center is seeking donation of used bicycles, tricycles and cycling-related equipment to support its program of providing bicycles at little or no cost according to community needs.
Summit Cycling Center is a local nonprofit organization that provides bicycle safety and mechanical training, promotes transportation alternatives and provides bicycles at little or no cost based on Akron area community needs. Some used bicycles are used for community program training purposes. Other bicycles will be rebuilt and sold or given away in the Akron area.

The Screaming Tiki Cleveland Super Con Comics, Toys and Pop Culture Convention will take place July 10, 11 and 12 in the Halle Building at 1228 Euclid Ave. in Cleveland.
The event will honor Cleveland’s own creators of Superman, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.
Appearing will be Edward James Olmos, Sam Witwer, Helen Slater, Michael Rosenbaum, Daniel Logan, Erin Gray, and Ray Park.

Jackson Township, off Perry and Jackson avenues.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to purchase medical supplies for a hospital in Chivhu, Zimbabwe. Details will be available at the pottery booth.

Visitors can discover what life was like aboard a working Great Lakes freighter, the William G. Mather, when they explore the 1925-built Mather from bow to stern and see its huge cargo holds, brass and oak pilot house, elegant guest quarters and four-story engine room. They also can walk the decks and marvel at the “engineering firsts” that helped transform Northeast Ohio into a great industrial center.
The Mather is docked at 305 Mather Way (old Erieside Avenue), north of the Great Lakes Science Center.

The Massillon Museum and Glenmoor Country Club are presenting the inaugural Gallery on the Greens from 10 .m. to 6 p.m. July 11 and July 12.
The alfresco art exhibit will line the boulevard leading to the Glenmoor clubhouse. The juried show will feature regional artists.
All proceeds will benefit the Massillon Museum.

The Olde Canal Days Festival will take place 5 to 11 p.m. July 9, and all day July 10 and July 11.
It will feature the Miss Olde Canal Days junior and senior queen pageant, live entertainment, arts and crafts vendors, food, the Grande Parade and the Firemen’s Parade, a Civil War encampment, Bates Amusements, party animals, Inflatables and fireworks.

The Council of Italian-American Societies’ 62nd annual Italian-American Festival will take place July 10 -12 at Lock 3 Park in downtown Akron.

Come hear “Dream Awhile,” the interesting life story of one of Stark County’s favorite sons, Frank DeVol, lyricist, musician and actor, at 7 p.m. July 11 at the Palace Theatre in Canton.
His career started in the orchestra pit of the Palace Theatre, and it led him to Hollywood where he penned such songs as “Pillow Talk” and “The Happening,” as well as TV theme songs for “The Brady Bunch,” “My Three Sons,” “Family Affair” and many more. He also was seen on TV sitcoms such as “Fernwood Tonight” and the “Carol Burnett Show.”
