The Louisville Area YMCA Summer Day Camp continues through Aug. 21 with fun and games centering on the theme “Under the Stars,” with swimming in the pool and many other activities plus trips to YMCA Camp Tippecanoe and Metzger Park — for children entering grades one through eight.
Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Children may be dropped off from 6:30 to 9 a.m. Most activities take place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Registrations are still being accepted from youths entering grades one through nine for the 2009 Canton Summer Fun and Enrichment Day Camp being held July 13 through Aug. 21 at the Edward “Peel” Coleman Community Center. at 1400 Sherrick Rd. SE in Canton.
Camp hours are 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Summer Fun and Enrichment Day Camp is a collaboration between the City of Canton office of youth development and the Canton Area YMCA.
The cost to participate in the six-week program is $60.
The Edward “Peel” Coleman Community Center is at 1400 Sherrick Rd. SE in Canton.

Learn to swim like a fish from a certified instructor! Morning, evening and Saturday classes are available for ages 6 months and up. Private lessons are also available. Prices vary by class. Please pre-register.
Wedgewood United Methodist Church, is holding its annual summer day camps in July.
Camp Fun & Son is for any child age 6 through 11 and stresses fun in a safe environment and family values.
Camp sessions begin on June 29, July 6, July 13, and July 20. Each camp session is five days, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a trained staff. Each week has a different theme.
Camp Fun & Son costs $50 for a five-day week, to cover the church’s costs.
The church is at 2350 Wedgewood Dr., in the Ellet area of Akron. It is near the E. Market Street and Mogadore exits off Interstate 77.
Come try a new land or aquatic fitness class at the Massillon Recreation Center. A new session starts on July 13. Please pre-register.
Aquatic Classes:
Aqua Fit (aerobic conditioning and toning), H2O Boot Camp (heart-pumping workout to make you sweat), Water Walking, Mommy & Me Aquatic fitness, Wave Runner, Arthritis Foundation Program, Senior Splash, Water Fitness, and Combo Water Workout (aerobics and resistance training).
Land Classes:
This exciting new camp will bring the world of science to students in grades 1-3. Led by the Museum's Science Director, there will be 3 hours of fun and educational activities each day. Each day will offer a different activity. Sign up for one or sign up for all six days.
The camp runs from 9:00 AM-12 Noon each day. Tuition is $20/day and $18/day for members.

We have expanded our Sign Language classes to include basic and in-depth classes. Classes will begin the week of July 13.
The Basic American Sign Language Class will be Mondays or Saturdays, 10-11 a.m. Participants will learn the alphabet, basic words, action words, numbers, colors, and more. Cost is $30 for Massillon Recreation Center members, $33 for Massillon taxpayers, and $42 for nontaxpayers.
Visitors can discover what life was like aboard a working Great Lakes freighter, the William G. Mather, when they explore the 1925-built Mather from bow to stern and see its huge cargo holds, brass and oak pilot house, elegant guest quarters and four-story engine room. They also can walk the decks and marvel at the “engineering firsts” that helped transform Northeast Ohio into a great industrial center.
The Mather is docked at 305 Mather Way (old Erieside Avenue), north of the Great Lakes Science Center.

Canton First Friends Church Sports Outreach will conduct a girls basketball camp from 1 to 4 p.m. July 13-16.
It is for girls who have just completed grades three through six.

Local musicians John Whitacre and Dennis Kempthorne will present traditional folk tunes from the British Isles when they visit the library on Monday, July 13 from 6:30-8 p.m.
The two musicians share a love of the British Isles and early American music and find their greatest joy in playing tunes. They have played for dances, private parties, schools, festivals and weddings.
