The Louisville Area YMCA Summer Day Camp continues through Aug. 21 with fun and games centering on the theme “Under the Stars,” with swimming in the pool and many other activities plus trips to YMCA Camp Tippecanoe and Metzger Park — for children entering grades one through eight.
Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Children may be dropped off from 6:30 to 9 a.m. Most activities take place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Registrations are still being accepted from youths entering grades one through nine for the 2009 Canton Summer Fun and Enrichment Day Camp being held July 13 through Aug. 21 at the Edward “Peel” Coleman Community Center. at 1400 Sherrick Rd. SE in Canton.
Camp hours are 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Summer Fun and Enrichment Day Camp is a collaboration between the City of Canton office of youth development and the Canton Area YMCA.
The cost to participate in the six-week program is $60.
The Edward “Peel” Coleman Community Center is at 1400 Sherrick Rd. SE in Canton.

This exciting new camp will bring the world of science to students in grades 1-3. Led by the Museum's Science Director, there will be 3 hours of fun and educational activities each day. Each day will offer a different activity. Sign up for one day or sign up for all six days. The camp runs from 9:00 AM - 12:00 Noon each day. Tuition is $20/day and $18/day for members.

Visitors can discover what life was like aboard a working Great Lakes freighter, the William G. Mather, when they explore the 1925-built Mather from bow to stern and see its huge cargo holds, brass and oak pilot house, elegant guest quarters and four-story engine room. They also can walk the decks and marvel at the “engineering firsts” that helped transform Northeast Ohio into a great industrial center.
The Mather is docked at 305 Mather Way (old Erieside Avenue), north of the Great Lakes Science Center.

The Minerva Public Library's Young Adult Group (YAGS), for youths who have completed fifth through eighth grades, meets at the library from 1 to 2 p.m. every Tuesday in the summer for creative activities, games, food, and surprises.

This program is designed to help girls in 4th-8th grade learn to deal with issues like peer pressure, bullies, body image, and self esteem through group discussions and physical activities. Each week will feature one day of group discussion and one day of group fitness. This is a Women's Sports Foundation Program and is sponsored by the Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio. The program is Tuesdays & Thursdays, 4:00-5:00 p.m. and will run July 14-August 20 at the Massillon Recreation Center. Cost is $15 for Girl Scouts (there will be an additional $10 fee for non-Girl Scouts).

Join Stark Parks staff for a 6-hour kayaking course certified by the American Canoe Assn. It emphasizes safety, skills, and basic rescue techniques for paddling any type of kayak. The Northeast Ohio Region of the American Cancer Society will host a Let’s Talk About It training for black men who are prostate cancer survivors from 7 to 9 p.m. July 14.
Let's Talk About It is a free community-based program developed by the American Cancer Society and 100 Black Men of America. The purpose is to increase awareness and knowledge of prostate cancer among black men.
Once the men are trained and become facilitators they will be asked to talk to groups of black men in their community about prostate cancer.
Prostate cancer survivor Dr. Ron Brown will conduct the training.
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Stark and Carroll Counties is seeking families and individuals who would like to own their own home. An information session will be held July 14 at 7 p.m. at Habitat’s Ministry Offices at 2800 Leemont Ave. NW in Canton.
Information on qualifying for a Habitat home will be discussed and loan applications will be taken. The session is for adults only and will last about two hours.
Those attending should bring copies (not original) of their 2007 and 2008 W-2 forms to be submitted with the application.
