The Louisville Area YMCA Summer Day Camp continues through Aug. 21 with fun and games centering on the theme “Under the Stars,” with swimming in the pool and many other activities plus trips to YMCA Camp Tippecanoe and Metzger Park — for children entering grades one through eight.
Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Children may be dropped off from 6:30 to 9 a.m. Most activities take place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Registrations are still being accepted from youths entering grades one through nine for the 2009 Canton Summer Fun and Enrichment Day Camp being held July 13 through Aug. 21 at the Edward “Peel” Coleman Community Center. at 1400 Sherrick Rd. SE in Canton.
Camp hours are 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Summer Fun and Enrichment Day Camp is a collaboration between the City of Canton office of youth development and the Canton Area YMCA.
The cost to participate in the six-week program is $60.
The Edward “Peel” Coleman Community Center is at 1400 Sherrick Rd. SE in Canton.

Blending the artistic expression of the Ohio Plein Air Society (OPAS) and the craftsmanship of the Lakeside Wooden Boat Society (LWBS) will create a unique weekend event July 17-19 in Lakeside’s 2009 Chautauqua summer season.
More than 40 plein air artists from across Ohio will capture spontaneity on canvas throughout Lakeside and the Marblehead Peninsula during the weekend.

The Domestic Violence Project, Inc., will have their fifth annual Putting for Hope golf outing July 17 at Spring Valley Golf Course, 5851 Breezehill Rd., East Sparta. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with a shot gun start at 10 a.m. Proceeds benefit victims of domestic violence and their families. The event also features four hole-in-one contests, live auction, basket raffles and 50/50 mulligans. Pre-registration deadline is July 13.

The North Canton Public Library is hosting “The Morning Nws Discussion” and coffee at 10 a.m. July 17 at the library.

A new Kent State University Museum exhibit, “The Kokoon Arts Club: Cleveland Revels,” looks back at the iconic club formed in 1912.
The exhibit, which runs from March 19, 2009, through Feb. 28, 2010, highlights the profound effect of the club, whose most memorable activities were the annual masked balls at staged venues around the city. On display are the posters and costumes, both designed and worn by members at these extravagant balls.

The artists on the second floor of 2nd April Galerie are opening their studios and inviting you into their work environment from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays through Dec. 18.
Watch the creative process unfold as the artists share a variety of new work — pottery, painting, sculptures, photography, fiber art, mixed media, jewelry and more.
There will be light refreshments, inspiration and some interactive and hands-on activities available to stir your creative juices. Themes, topics and activities will change each week.
Groups of more than 20 are welcome with advance notice.

Visitors can discover what life was like aboard a working Great Lakes freighter, the William G. Mather, when they explore the 1925-built Mather from bow to stern and see its huge cargo holds, brass and oak pilot house, elegant guest quarters and four-story engine room. They also can walk the decks and marvel at the “engineering firsts” that helped transform Northeast Ohio into a great industrial center.
The Mather is docked at 305 Mather Way (old Erieside Avenue), north of the Great Lakes Science Center.

Rodman Library will host a brown bag lunch for children ages 5 and older from noon to 1 p.m. July 17 on the library lawn at 215 E. Broadway St. in Alliance. In case of rain, lunch will be in the Children’s Program Room.
Bring your own brown bag lunch and a beverage.
After lunch and stories, children will make a craft item in the Children’s Program Room.
Additional brown bag lunches will take place on each Friday in July from noon to 1p.m.

Clay’s Park will host its sixth annual Rock ’N Resort Music Festival on July 17 through July 19. More than 50 national and regional bands will perform, from noon to midnight daily.
Camping and full water park usage will be available.
Admission fees will be charged.

Affinity Medical Center will provide a free hearing screening from 1 to 3 p.m. July 17 in the Ambulatory Care Center on Affinity Medical Center’s Campus. The screenings will be conducted by Dr. Michael Barat.
The screening, open to the public, will be done by appointment. Call the Ambulatory Care Center at (330) 834-4796. Refreshments and literature will be provided.
Affinity is at 875 Eighth St. NE in Massillon.
According to the American Academy of Audiology, hearing loss is the third most significant, but treatable, health problem for American seniors, behind arthritis and hypertension.

Massillon Museum will hold its annual Island Party & Pig Roast from 6 to 11 p.m. July 17 at the museum, at 121 Lincoln Way E. The island-themed event is a fundraiser for museum.
There is an admission fee.

A benefit dinner for Roger Hill is planned for July 17 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Rafter's at Meadowlake Golf and Swim, 1211 39th St. NE, Canton. Dinner includes chicken and rigatoni. There will also be theme basket raffles, a deejay and cash bar. Tickets are $10. Hill is a heart transplant patient. Monies raised go toward the family's expenses. Donations can also be made at any Fifth Third Bank under Roger Hill Northeastern Ohio-Canton.

The 46th annual St. Joseph’s Ox Roast Fair happens in Mantua from 6 to 11 p.m. July 17, 3 to 11:30 p.m. July 18, and noon to 10 p.m. July 19.

Musical Mark Bat Songs Concert

Musical Mark’s “outta the cave” and coming to TWC! His CD, We’re Just Hangin’ Out, has original songs about bats—super fun and educational, too.
The show has Mark in bat costume with multi-media sound, exciting props, and special effects. It’s totally WOW! You have to see and hear it to believe it! After the show, he’ll come out for photos with the audience. Autographs too! Don’t miss this one! This is a children’s concert, so... $8/child member, $10/child nonmember. Toledo, Ohio-based indie band Resonant Soul will perform in Kent as part of its summer tour that spans from Brooklyn to Minneapolis. The band will appear with Rosella, Motter Flynn, the Know Nothings, and the Zou at the Robin Hood at 9 p.m. July 17.
Resonant Soul recently was heard on Cleveland’s 100.7 WMMS radio.
The Robin Hood is at 503 E. Main St .
