The Louisville Area YMCA Summer Day Camp continues through Aug. 21 with fun and games centering on the theme “Under the Stars,” with swimming in the pool and many other activities plus trips to YMCA Camp Tippecanoe and Metzger Park — for children entering grades one through eight.
Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Children may be dropped off from 6:30 to 9 a.m. Most activities take place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Daria Kathleen Sherman, a therapist, teacher, and author, will speak at the July 22 meeting of the Stark County Women’s Network group.
The meeting will start at 8 a.m. at Hometown Buffet at 4758 Everhard Rd. NW in Jackson Township.

Registrations are still being accepted from youths entering grades one through nine for the 2009 Canton Summer Fun and Enrichment Day Camp being held July 13 through Aug. 21 at the Edward “Peel” Coleman Community Center. at 1400 Sherrick Rd. SE in Canton.
Camp hours are 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Summer Fun and Enrichment Day Camp is a collaboration between the City of Canton office of youth development and the Canton Area YMCA.
The cost to participate in the six-week program is $60.
The Edward “Peel” Coleman Community Center is at 1400 Sherrick Rd. SE in Canton.

Canton First Friends Church Sports Outreach is conducting a basketball camp for boys who have just completed grades three through six. The camp is from 9 to noon July 20 through July 23.
The church is at 5455 Market Ave. N.

The Norma Johnson Center in the Dover area will offer a butterfly exhibit July 20-26.
Fran LeMasters will set up an interactive 12-by-5-foot enclosure featuring butterflies, caterpillars and chrysalis. She belongs to the International Butterfly Breeders Association.
The exhibit will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 7 p.m.
The O’Donnell Family Charitable Foundation is sponsoring this exhibit.
The Norma Johnson Center is at 3870 State Route 39 NW in Dover.

A new Kent State University Museum exhibit, “The Kokoon Arts Club: Cleveland Revels,” looks back at the iconic club formed in 1912.
The exhibit, which runs from March 19, 2009, through Feb. 28, 2010, highlights the profound effect of the club, whose most memorable activities were the annual masked balls at staged venues around the city. On display are the posters and costumes, both designed and worn by members at these extravagant balls.

Visitors can discover what life was like aboard a working Great Lakes freighter, the William G. Mather, when they explore the 1925-built Mather from bow to stern and see its huge cargo holds, brass and oak pilot house, elegant guest quarters and four-story engine room. They also can walk the decks and marvel at the “engineering firsts” that helped transform Northeast Ohio into a great industrial center.
The Mather is docked at 305 Mather Way (old Erieside Avenue), north of the Great Lakes Science Center.

Applebee’s restaurant in the Belden Village area is sponsoring a fundraiser for the survivors of Margaret Eakin and her grandchildren, Macy and James, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. July 22. Applebee’s is at 4981 Dressler Rd. NW in Jackson Township.
The tragic killing of Eakin and her grandchildren has come at great expense emotionally and financially to the Eakin family.
Applebee’s will donate 15 percent of patrons’ meal tickets to the Eakin Family Fund when they present the flier announcing this fundraising event.

NAMI Stark County will offer "Family-to-Family"; a FREE 12 week program that meets once a week for persons having an adult loved one with mental illness. The program teaches about mental illness, treatments, coping and communication strategies and more.

Teen Librarian, Janet Metzger, invites all area teens to cool down in July’s heat by creating delicious ice cream sundaes. Make new friends and bring your favorite music and books to listen to and discuss. This program will take place on Wednesday, July 22 from 7-7:45 p.m. in the Children’s Program Room at the Main Library. No registration is required.

Wednesday night meditation at Merging Hearts. Each Wednesday at 7pm we gather to experience a new and different meditation.

The 42-member Canton Concert Band is offering a series of free Summer Sunset Concerts at parks throughout Stark County.
The programs will include pop music, light classical selections, show tunes, and marches.
The band’s members include professional musicians along with some high school and college students. Conductors and music will vary by concert.
Programs begin at 7 p.m., except as noted. Bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating.
