The Louisville Area YMCA Summer Day Camp continues through Aug. 21 with fun and games centering on the theme “Under the Stars,” with swimming in the pool and many other activities plus trips to YMCA Camp Tippecanoe and Metzger Park — for children entering grades one through eight.
Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Children may be dropped off from 6:30 to 9 a.m. Most activities take place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Sessions are 9 a.m. to noon or 1 to 4 p.m.

Participants will learn about Ohio's Native Animals by referring to pelts and informational posters. Then off to the woods the group will go to see what type of critters live at the Norma Johnson Center and what they have left behind. Program will be from 10 to 12. Meet at the Picnic Shelter on Conservation Drive just off of Old SR 39. Please call to register for program.
Visitors can discover what life was like aboard a working Great Lakes freighter, the William G. Mather, when they explore the 1925-built Mather from bow to stern and see its huge cargo holds, brass and oak pilot house, elegant guest quarters and four-story engine room. They also can walk the decks and marvel at the “engineering firsts” that helped transform Northeast Ohio into a great industrial center.
The Mather is docked at 305 Mather Way (old Erieside Avenue), north of the Great Lakes Science Center.

Massillon Fire Department Chief Tom Burgasser will talk about "The Easter Sunday Fire" (with historic background by Margy Vogt) at the Massillon Museum’s Brown Bag Lunch on July 28.
Bring a sack lunch or purchase soup, salad, or a sandwich catered by Santangelo's. The program will begin promptly at 12:10 p.m. and conclude about 12:50 p.m.
The event, which is held in the Museum lobby, is free and open to the public; no reservations are required, but seats fill early.

Stark Parks Intermediate Archery Camp is designed for youth at least 12 years of age and adults who have some experience in archery. The classes are from 1-3 p.m. on July 28, 29 and 30th. The 3-day camp is $15 for Stark County residents and $20 for non-residents. The classes will emphasize safety, proper shooting form, and recreational shooting, while improving skill and accuracy. The Dover Baptist Temple will conduct a Vacation Bible School, “Amazon Expedition: the Ultimate Trek Through Time,” from July 27 through July 31 and Aug. 2.
The classes will explore the seven C’s of history: creation, corruption, catastrophe, confusion, cross and consummation. Each night there will be crafts, games, snacks and more. On Aug. 2, there will be a special closing ceremony at the Akron Zoo.

Project E.L.S.I.E. monthly support group will sponsor a candlelight vigil at 8 p.m. for the family of Mia Pastor, an Alliance infant who was killed last week.
The child’s father has been charged with murder.
The vigil will be in the area of 549 S. Arch Ave. in Alliance, where the child was found dead at the home.
