On July 31 through Aug. 2, the Cleveland Breast Cancer 3-Day walk of 60 miles will take place to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer. Nonparticipants can show support by attending the opening and closing ceremonies and the official Cheering Stations along the route.
The opening ceremony will be at 6:30 a.m. July 31 at the Cuyahoga Port Authority Dock 32 parking lot, between Cleveland Browns Stadium and Lake Erie, at 237 Erieside Ave. in Cleveland.
The closing ceremony will be at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 2 at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds at 163 Eastland Rd. in Berea.

The Louisville Area YMCA Summer Day Camp continues through Aug. 21 with fun and games centering on the theme “Under the Stars,” with swimming in the pool and many other activities plus trips to YMCA Camp Tippecanoe and Metzger Park — for children entering grades one through eight.
Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Children may be dropped off from 6:30 to 9 a.m. Most activities take place between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

The 2009 Greater Alliance Carnation Festival is nearly two weeks of parades, food and fun throughout the city.
A three-day outdoor RibFest with live musical entertainment at Carnation Mall kicks off the festival July 30.
The festival officially begins Aug. 9 with a kick-off parade from Park and Main streets to Glamorgan Castle at 1 p.m. The Carnation Queen will be crowned and her court will be selected at 7 p.m.
Ice cream socials, a hot-air balloon lift-off, men’s and women’s golf scrambles, and many more events take place during Festival Week.

Youth Group at Congregational United Church of Christ will be having a rummage and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 30, July 31 and Aug. 1.
All proceeds will be used for a mission trip in the fall.

St. Ann Church, at 323 S. 15th St. in Sebring, is holding its annual Garage Sale on July 30, July 31, and Aug. 1. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 30 and 31, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
The sale will include household items, refrigerators, electric stoves, clothing and tools.
A bake sale will take place all three days.

The North Canton Public Library will present Eric Monroe, the YoYo Man, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. July 31.
The YoYo Man wil perform amazing tricks, and will show attendees how to perform some of them. This program is for children in grades one through six.
Free tickets will be available beginning June 22 in the children’s department.
The library is at 185 N. Main St.

A new Kent State University Museum exhibit, “The Kokoon Arts Club: Cleveland Revels,” looks back at the iconic club formed in 1912.
The exhibit, which runs from March 19, 2009, through Feb. 28, 2010, highlights the profound effect of the club, whose most memorable activities were the annual masked balls at staged venues around the city. On display are the posters and costumes, both designed and worn by members at these extravagant balls.

The artists on the second floor of 2nd April Galerie are opening their studios and inviting you into their work environment from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays through Dec. 18.
Watch the creative process unfold as the artists share a variety of new work — pottery, painting, sculptures, photography, fiber art, mixed media, jewelry and more.
There will be light refreshments, inspiration and some interactive and hands-on activities available to stir your creative juices. Themes, topics and activities will change each week.
Groups of more than 20 are welcome with advance notice.

Visitors can discover what life was like aboard a working Great Lakes freighter, the William G. Mather, when they explore the 1925-built Mather from bow to stern and see its huge cargo holds, brass and oak pilot house, elegant guest quarters and four-story engine room. They also can walk the decks and marvel at the “engineering firsts” that helped transform Northeast Ohio into a great industrial center.
The Mather is docked at 305 Mather Way (old Erieside Avenue), north of the Great Lakes Science Center.

Kids from age 4 through fourth grade and their caregivers can participate in Book and Bag It every Friday this summer for stories and special entertainment at the Minerva Public Library. On July 31, Susan Crawford presents “Draw Me a Story.”
Free lunch is provided for the children, or they can bring their own snacks.

Rodman Library will host a brown bag lunch for children ages 5 and older from noon to 1 p.m. July 31 on the library lawn at 215 E. Broadway St. In case of rain, lunch will be in the Children’s Program Room.
Bring your own brown bag lunch and a beverage.
After lunch and stories, children will make a craft item in the Children’s Program Room.
Additional brown bag lunches will take place on each Friday in July from noon to 1p.m.

Display combines nostalgic piecess of the proud past of "Walsh College" with current technology refelcting the story of growth and expansion that has produced an exemplary faith-based University. It also encompasses the vsion of its founders, the Brothers of Christian Instruction, who continue to hold a presence on campus, involved with curriculum and students' activities.

The 44th annual Ohio Mennonite Relief Sale will be July 31 and Aug. 1 at Central Christian School in Kidron.
The sale helps fund the work of the Mennonite Central Committee, whose worldwide efforts include disaster relief and conflict resolution.
Activities beginning at 4 p.m. July 31 are silent and live auctions, crafts vendors, food vendors and entertainment.

The Balloon Classic Invitational/Jackson-Belden Food Fest & Fireworks happen July 31 from 4 to 11:30 p.m., Aug. 1 at 6 a.m. and from 4 to 11:30 p.m., and Aug. 2 at 6 a.m.
These free events take place at the Kent State University Stark Campus at 6000 Frank Ave. NW in Jackson Township.
More than 70 giant hot-air balloons take flight to the delight of about 130,000 spectators, who can also enjoy dozens of food vendors, live music, children’s activities, an illuminating Balloon Night Glow, and spectacular fireworks display.

The Dover Baptist Temple will conduct a Vacation Bible School, “Amazon Expedition: the Ultimate Trek Through Time,” from July 27 through July 31 and Aug. 2.
The classes will explore the seven C’s of history: creation, corruption, catastrophe, confusion, cross and consummation. Each night there will be crafts, games, snacks and more. On Aug. 2, there will be a special closing ceremony at the Akron Zoo.

The Lions Lincoln Theatre will show a great classic movie, “The African Queen,” starring Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn, two of the silver screen's biggest stars, at 7 p.m. July 31 and Aug. 1, and at 6 p.m. Aug. 2.
The film's stars must battle the elements, the Germans and each other in this great adventure tale. Both stars were nominated for an Oscar but only Bogart won.
Admission is $3, or $4 with a small popcorn and drink.
The film is sponsored by the Lincoln Classic Film Club.
The theater is at 156 Lincolnway E in Massillon.

The Serenity Garden at New 2 Me will feature musical performances from 7 to 10 p.m. every Friday through Oct. 16.
In case of inclement weather, the event will be indoors in the Caribbean Beach Bar.
The Serenity Garden is at the Warehouse on the Canal, at 239 N. Canal St. in Canal Fulton.

The Carroll Aspiring Stage Theatrics will be offering its second annual 24 hours of theater with a production.
This is something many colleges and universities stage to introduce performing arts students to different aspects of creating a theater production.
What generally takes up to 12 weeks to produce, C.A.S.T. is going to make happen in one day.

Canal Fulton Parks and Recreation is sponsoring a Free Movie in Park “Bedtime Stories” Friday, July 31, 2009 at Dusk (about 9 pm). Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy an outdoor movie. The Movie will be in Muhlhauser Park behind the Northwest Senior Center at 853 Locust Street in Canal Fulton.
