The 44th annual Northeast Ohio Photography Show at the Canton Jewish Community Center will run from Feb. 5 through Feb. 25. The Jewish Center, at 2631 Harvard Ave. NW, is open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
A special preview for entrants, sponsors, patrons and donors will take place at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 4.
The show, sponsored by the late Dr. Samuel S. and Celia G. Reinglass, will run through Feb. 25.

A new Kent State University Museum exhibit, “The Kokoon Arts Club: Cleveland Revels,” looks back at the iconic club formed in 1912.
The exhibit, which runs from March 19, 2009, through Feb. 28, 2010, highlights the profound effect of the club, whose most memorable activities were the annual masked balls at staged venues around the city. On display are the posters and costumes, both designed and worn by members at these extravagant balls.
Don't let bad weather keep you from enjoying park time with your little one! We bring the park inside by creating an indoor kiddie wonderland in the gym. You and your child can play on tumbling mats or with balls, bats, hoops, tricycles, slides and more during this unstructured free time on Thursdays Nov. 5, 2009, through March 4, 2010, from 10 a.m. to noon. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
The program is free for Massillon Recreation Center members and children age 3 and under, $6 for nonmembers and children over age 3.

“The Unguarded Moment,” a retrospective exhibit of 50 photos by Steve McCurry, is on view from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays Feb. 6 through April 2 at the Joseph Saxton Gallery of Photography, at 520 Cleveland Ave. NW in downtown Canton.

McCurry is the photographer who took what has been called the most recognizable photograph in the world today — the green-eyed “Afghan Girl” on the cover of National Geographic in 1984.

GlenOak High School’s Abbey Foltz stage will be become home to the life of P.T. Barnum as GlenOak High School presents the musical "Barnum". More than 100 students will join forces to bring the pageantry and wonderment of the circus to life as part of this amazing production.
Barnum, the musical, traces P.T. Barnum's career from 1835 to 1881 when he joined James A. Bailey to form the circus dubbed The Greatest Show on Earth. The production combines elements of traditional musical theater with the spectacle of the circus including side show acts, dancers, gymnasts, and Jumbo the Elephant.

The Massillon Parks and Recreation Department and Jump Start Sports have combined forces to offer a Speed Training and Conditioning Program at Paul L. David Athletic Training Center. Classes will be Tuesday and Thursday evenings. This program will work on speed training, agility and conditioning to help athletes ages 8-14 take their game to the next level. The Amish Door Village is hosting the game show dinner mystery “Perry Columbus and the Showcase Showdown,” a 34west Theater Company production, Feb. 25-27. A special matinee will be performed Feb. 26.

Ohio State University Extension staff Melinda Hill and Ron Becker will start a three-part series, “Home Gardening and Preserving 101,” at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 25.
The first part will cover garden planning; the following sessions will cover planting (May 6 at 6:30 p.m.) and preserving the harvest (July 15 at 6:30 p.m.).
Cost for the series is $5 per session and $10 for the whole series for Local Roots members and $10 per session and $20 for the series for nonmembers. (Scholarships are available to those in need.)

Heritage Christian School invites visitors to an Open House Thursday, Feb. 25, 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. to learn about an education at Heritage! The Open House also will include detailed information about the Ohio EdChoice Scholarship Program. According to the Ohio EdChoice website, students who attend or would attend a public school in their resident district that has been rated in Academic Emergency or Academic Watch for two of the past three years are eligible to apply.
A qi gong class will take place on the last two Mondays of February, the 15th and 22nd, and the last two Thursdays of February, the 18th and 25th, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Chen Acupuncture Health Center at 2405 Fulton Rd. NW in Canton.
Qi gong is a traditional Chinese exercise system. It has been practiced for several thousand years in China as a "medical keep fit" activity to maintain health, heal the body, calm the mind and reconnect with one’s spirit.
Qi gong is an art and skill to train the "qi," which creates a balanced lifestyle.

Trinity Brethren Church would like to invite the community to come out and have fun in the snow with us. If we have to have way too much snow on the ground we should at least enjoy it. We will meet on February 25th at 6:30 PM and spend about an hour making snowmen and playing games. If the weather doesn't cooperate and the snow melts or it is bitterly cold we will have some fun games inside instead. There will be refreshments to enjoy after our play time. All ages welcome!
