The Zoar Volunteer Fire Department will hold a Pancake Breakfast fundraiser from 7 to 11 a.m. Feb. 27 at the Zoar Volunteer Fire Station.
The menu is all-you-can-eat pancakes, Bob Evans sausage links or patties, scrambled eggs, hash browns and a beverage.
Cost is $5 for anyone age 12 and older and $2.50 for children under age 12.
Carryout also will be available at (330) 874-2069.
All proceeds will benefit the Zoar Volunteer Fire Department.
The fire station is at 190 E. Fifth St. NE in Zoar.

The Carroll County Animal Protection League will hold a membership drive from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 27 at Tractor Supply, 1335 Canton Rd. NW, Carrollton.
Members will be on hand with literature about the organization and news of its progress to date. The league will be selling dog and cat toys and other fundraising items. All proceeds will go toward the CCAPL’s goal of building and operating an animal shelter for Carroll County.
GlenOak High School Arts and Communications students have coordinated their second community-wide arts event in conjunction with the all-school musical performance of "Barnum". The Arts Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 27 at GlenOak High School.
Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for students in grades five and below.

A new Kent State University Museum exhibit, “The Kokoon Arts Club: Cleveland Revels,” looks back at the iconic club formed in 1912.
The exhibit, which runs from March 19, 2009, through Feb. 28, 2010, highlights the profound effect of the club, whose most memorable activities were the annual masked balls at staged venues around the city. On display are the posters and costumes, both designed and worn by members at these extravagant balls.

Summit Cycling Center is seeking donation of used bicycles, tricycles and cycling-related equipment to support its program of providing bicycles at little or no cost according to community needs.
Summit Cycling Center is a local nonprofit organization that provides bicycle safety and mechanical training, promotes transportation alternatives and provides bicycles at little or no cost based on Akron area community needs. Some used bicycles are used for community program training purposes. Other bicycles will be rebuilt and sold or given away in the Akron area.
Auditions for the seventh annual Canton Idol will take place Feb. 27 at the Arts in Stark Education Center at 1014 Cleveland Ave. NW.

The second annual Minerva Jazz Festival will feature a performance by the John Trapani Big Band, made possible by a grant from Arts in Stark, as well as performances by area high school bands.
Doors open at 9:30 a.m. and the John Trapani Big Band will play at 1 p.m. A concession stand will be available throughout the day.
The festival will be held in the Minerva High School auditeria, 501 Almeda Ave., Minerva
Admission is free for everyone. All proceeds will benefit the Minerva instrumental music program.

“The Unguarded Moment,” a retrospective exhibit of 50 photos by Steve McCurry, is on view from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays Feb. 6 through April 2 at the Joseph Saxton Gallery of Photography, at 520 Cleveland Ave. NW in downtown Canton.

McCurry is the photographer who took what has been called the most recognizable photograph in the world today — the green-eyed “Afghan Girl” on the cover of National Geographic in 1984.
On Saturdays and Sundays in January and February from noon to 3 p.m., you can experience the thrill of hand-feeding wild birds at Beech Creek Botanical Gardens and Nature Preserve, at 11929 Beech St. NE in Washington Township, just outside Alliance.

The bird feeder is just across the bridge, about a quarter mile from the parking lot.

Barnum, the musical, traces P.T. Barnum's career from 1835 to 1881 when he joined James A. Bailey to form the circus dubbed The Greatest Show on Earth. The production combines elements of traditional musical theater with the spectacle of the circus including side show acts, dancers, gymnasts, and Jumbo the Elephant.
