Widow and Widowers Starting Over Socially will meet for lunch 1 p.m. Tuesday at Rooster's, 4335 Dressler Rd. NW, Jackson Township. Reservations are required, call Ethel at (330) 493-9090.
Expectant mothers and their support person are invited to learn more about the delivery process, breast feeding, the basics of caring for a baby and more at Affinity Medical Center's childbirth classes.
The first class will be about the basics and benefits of breast feeding, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. March 2.
The classes are held in the Perinatal Education Room inside the Maternity Unit.
“Act in Time to Heart Attack Signs” will be presented by Dr. John Paulowski, cardiologist, at the North Canton Public Library, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. March 2 at the North Canton Public Library.
Time is muscle when heart attacks occur. Learn symptoms, importance of calling 9-1-1 for transport to the hospital and Aultman’s latest technology for diagnosis and treatment.

Hospice of Stark County needs individuals for the following volunteer opportunities:
• Volunteers to assist with answering phones, computer work, mailings, or other office functions.
• Volunteers to provide caregivers a break by staying with the patient for a short period of time.
• Volunteers to deliver much needed supplies to a patients’ home.
• Volunteers to help with fundraising events to benefit patient care.
• Volunteers interested in joining committees, such as the Advisory Board, Fundraising Committee, etc.
March 2: 6 p.m., “Fruit and Vegetable Sculpture with Chef Alford,” with Richard Alford; $55. Menu: Sculpted flowers, flat flowers, combination flower designs and simple 3D sculptures. Bring: Sharp paring knife, vegetable peeler and melon baller.

The Massillon Parks and Recreation Department and Jump Start Sports have combined forces to offer a Speed Training and Conditioning Program at Paul L. David Athletic Training Center. Classes will be Tuesday and Thursday evenings. This program will work on speed training, agility and conditioning to help athletes ages 8-14 take their game to the next level. Participants will work with successful college athletes in a small group setting. You can register in person at the Massillon Recreation Center or online at www.jumpstartsports.com.

Malone University is pleased to announce its 2010 Woolman Lecturer, Beth Newman, Ph.D., professor of theology and ethics, Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond, March 1-2, 2010 in the Johnson Center for Worship and the Fine Arts, located at 2600 Cleveland Avenue NW in Canton. Both lectures will begin at 7:30 p.m. Dr. Newman will also be speaking at the University’s chapel service Tuesday, March 2 at 10 a.m. in the Sanctuary of The Johnson Center. Her chapel address is entitled Worshipping with Helmets.
