The Celtic Club is sponsoring the St. Pet’s Day food donation drive from March 8 through March 17.

Residents can donate dry dog and cat food and cat litter at their local fire station, in most cases, March 8 through March 12, and March 15 through March 17 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Donations also can be dropped off in the front lobby of the Repository.

Donations will benefit local humane and pet rescue groups.

Drop-off sites include:

This exhibit will feature First Ladies Elizabeth Monroe, Harriet Lane, Helen Taft, Lou Hoover, Jackie Kennedy, Pat Nixon, Rosalynn Carter and Hillary Clinton. On display will be gifts given to First Ladies from various countries around the world on loan from Presidential Libraries and Museums.

Oncology patients and family members are encouraged to attend a “Look Good … Feel Better” session from 10 a.m. to noon the second Tuesday of every month or from 6 to 8 p.m. the second Wednesday of every month at Aultman Hospital for support and advice on managing the effects of therapy.

Every cancer patient will:
• receive a kit filled with $200 worth of cosmetics from National Cosmetology Association and Personal Care Products Council Foundation,
• enjoy a free makeover by a licensed cosmetologist trained on oncology needs,
• learn make-up and hair techniques, and

The Massillon Parks and Recreation Department and Jump Start Sports have combined forces to offer a Speed Training and Conditioning Program at Paul L. David Athletic Training Center. Classes will be Tuesday and Thursday evenings. This program will work on speed training, agility and conditioning to help athletes ages 8-14 take their game to the next level. Participants will work with successful college athletes in a small group setting. You can register in person at the Massillon Recreation Center or online at www.jumpstartsports.com.

Crochet looks mysterious, but is simply a matter of pulling one loop of yarn through another. Stark Parks invites you to come and learn the basics of crochet and make a simple case for a cell phone, iPod, or eye glasses. Participants should bring a size "H" crochet hook. Various colors of yarn will be provided. Recommended minimum age is 10. Reservations required.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Stark and Carroll Counties will hold an information session at 7 p.m. March 9 for families and individuals who would like to own their own home.
