The Celtic Club is sponsoring the St. Pet’s Day food donation drive from March 8 through March 17.
Residents can donate dry dog and cat food and cat litter at their local fire station, in most cases, March 8 through March 12, and March 15 through March 17 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Donations also can be dropped off in the front lobby of the Repository.
Donations will benefit local humane and pet rescue groups.
Drop-off sites include:
• Alliance fire station, 63 E. Broadway St.
• Canal Fulton fire station (March 15 through March 17), 1165 Locust St. NW.

Canton Symphony Orchestra presents SymphonyLand, a fun way to introduce children (ages 4-8) to instrumental sounds. Assistant Conductor Matthew Brown reads a children's story book and leads you through a musical world with a Brass Trio. All Tickets $5.00. This exhibit concentrates on the extremely important, but nonpolitical role that First Ladies play in international diplomatic relationships for our country. This exhibit will feature First Ladies Elizabeth Monroe, Harriet Lane, Helen Taft, Lou Hoover, Jackie Kennedy, Pat Nixon, Rosalynn Carter and Hillary Clinton. On display will be gifts given to First Ladies from various countries around the world on loan from Presidential Libraries and Museums.
Tour includes the exhibit of the Education Building and the Saxton McKinley House

“The Unguarded Moment,” a retrospective exhibit of 50 photos by Steve McCurry, is on view from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays Feb. 6 through April 2 at the Joseph Saxton Gallery of Photography, at 520 Cleveland Ave. NW in downtown Canton.
Admission is free.
McCurry is the photographer who took what has been called the most recognizable photograph in the world today — the green-eyed “Afghan Girl” on the cover of National Geographic in 1984.
At noon each Wednesday in Lent, a half-hour organ recital will be given by area organists in Westbrook Park United Methodist Church at 2521 12th St. NW in Canton.
Each recital has a theme and Scripture for personal meditation.
The organ console is moved to the center of the chancel so all can see the performer.
This series has continued for the past 19 years and is free to the public.

Blood drives are vital in helping the American Red Cross meet the needs of patients in 57 area hospitals. It is only through dedicated, volunteer blood donors that the need is met. Stark Parks invites donors to come to the the Exploration Gateway, 5712 12th St. NW between 1:30-6:30 p.m. to donate and help assure that blood will be available when needed. All donors will receive a reusable Stark Parks tote bag and a gift from Affinity Medical.Center.

Free Course Helps Families Cope with Mental Illness
Families who have a loved one with a mental illness such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or major depression will benefit from the Family-to-Family Education course. The twelve week course will be held at Science Hill Community Church located at 12316 Beeson St, Alliance, Ohio 44601 every Wednesday evening from 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., beginning March 10th through May 26, 2010.
Trinity Brethren Church is hosting a study on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30. This study consists of a 15 minute video and discussion based on the material, If You Want to Walk on Water, You've Got to Get Out of the Boat by John Ortberg.
