The February Luncheon will examine crucial confrontations in the workplace. By the end of the presentation participants will have a better idea of how to improve results and relationships by confronting unsafe actions, violated expectations and bad behavior. During the presentation, Tim Bauserman of Southam Consulting will help attendees examine crucial elements that occur before and during the confrontation.

You will learn about the skills of holding others accountable for safe behavior in a manner that focuses on getting good results while strengthening relationships.

The Celtic Club is sponsoring the St. Pet’s Day food donation drive from March 8 through March 17.

Residents can donate dry dog and cat food and cat litter at their local fire station, in most cases, March 8 through March 12, and March 15 through March 17 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Donations also can be dropped off in the front lobby of the Repository.

Donations will benefit local humane and pet rescue groups.

Drop-off sites include:

Cholesterol and glucose screenings are conducted from 8:30 to 11 a.m. the third Tuesday of every month by Affinity Medical Center's Wellness Watch volunteer nurses in Affinity's Eighth Street Lobby, at 875 Eighth St. NE in Massillon.
Lipid profiles are available for $15. The lipid profile includes testing of triglycerides, total cholesterol, HDL and LDL cholesterol and glucose, and requires 12-hour fasting.

Mercy Medical Center Senior Friends is sponsoring a free Medicare Options Event on Tues., March 16, at 9 a.m. in the Mercy Medical Office Building Auditorium.

This marketing event will begin with a Medicare Advantage Plan overview by Terri Gursky, Mercy’s Medicare Specialist and Stark County OSHIIP (Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program) Coordinator. This exhibit concentrates on the extremely important, but nonpolitical role that First Ladies play in international diplomatic relationships for our country. On display will be gifts given to First Ladies from various countries around the world on loan from Presidential Libraries and Museums.

Patrick Seaman will give a free presentation from 6 to 7:30 p.m. March 16 to widows of veterans, veterans and seniors about benefits available for in-home care, assisted living, and extended care facilities. The program will be at Summit’s Trace of Greater Canton at 836 34th St. NW.
Patrick Seaman is a speaker and veterans advocate with a degree in mathematics, extensive knowledge of VA benefits and 15-plus years of experience working with regulators.

The Massillon Parks and Recreation Department and Jump Start Sports have combined forces to offer a Speed Training and Conditioning Program at Paul L. David Athletic Training Center. Classes will be Tuesday and Thursday evenings. This program will work on speed training, agility and conditioning to help athletes ages 8-14 take their game to the next level. Participants will work with successful college athletes in a small group setting. You can register in person at the Massillon Recreation Center or online at www.jumpstartsports.com.

A Diabetes Support Group, presented by diabetes nurse educators and dietitians, will take place the third Tuesday of each month from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Affinity Medical Center Board Room (off the Eighth Street entrance) at 875 Eighth St. NE in Massillon.
The group provides individuals with diabetes emotional support and continuing education on important health and lifestyle issues.

Annual Meeting will focus on Hoover Vikings Basketball

Memories of the Hoover Vikings’ trips to the finals of the Ohio High School Athletic Association Basketball Tournament will be the program for the North Canton Heritage Society’s Annual Meeting on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 7 p.m.

Members of three teams who made it to the state tournament will be on hand to discuss their experiences of “going to State.” Included will be Andy Logan from the 1985 championship team, Bill Owens from the 1948 team and George Hamilton from the 1949 squad.
