“Get Animated” event for children

Cartoon Network and Time Warner Cable aim to inspire area children as they bring the network’s national “Get Animated” tour to Water Works Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 18.
The 40-city tour, now in its fifth year, is designed to motivate, energize and educate kids ages 6 to 14 about healthy living choices by using the power of Cartoon Network’s shows,
characters and brands.
Kids will be able to engage in physical activities that promote the message of staying active and
making smart nutritional choices. Activities will include a climbing wall, soccer challenge, bicycle race, filming station capturing games created by kids using the red rubber playground ball, interactive HOPSports program and basketball drills. All activities will be themed around Cartoon Network’s line-up of shows.
In addition, Cartoon Network and the Food and Drug Administration will present a new activity based on their SPOT THE BLOCK campaign, an on-air and online public education effort that encourages kids to use the Nutrition Facts information on the food label to make healthier food
choices. SPOT THE BLOCK will feature an activity that mirrors the online game found at www.spottheblock.com. Kids will roll over-sized dice and compare the two nutrition labels for a prize, while learning to understand the nutrition charts on food packaging more
effectively.
Water Works Park is at 2025 Munroe Falls Ave. in Cuyahoga Falls.
