American Heart Association’s Heart Ball

The American Heart Association’s 2010 Heart Ball: Put a Little Love in Your Heart will take place Feb. 20 at the Kent State Stark Professional Education and Conference Center, at 6000 Frank Ave. NW in Jackson Township. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. with a social hour and silent auction. The program will begin at 7:30 p.m.
This black-tie event features silent and live auctions, hors d’oeuvres, dinner and a tribute program honoring physicians who are making a difference in the fight against heart disease and stroke.
The evening’s honorees are Dr. Andrew Zurick of Aultman Hospital, Dr. Mark Tawil of Affinity Medical Center and Dr. Frank Kaeberlein of Mercy Medical Center.
Timothy and Marilyn Putman are the co-chairmen of the event and Kayleigh Kriss of Mix 94.1 is the evening’s master of ceremonies.
This year’s Heart Ball will highlight children and cardiovascular disease with a focus on pediatric research.
Each year about 36,000 babies are born with a heart defect. Congenital heart defects kill more children under one year old than any other birth defect. Since 2003 the American Heart Association has committed more than $41.1 million in research toward children.
The American Heart Association is a leader in the fight against heart disease and stroke. All money raised helps the American Heart Association fund vital heart disease and stroke research, public and professional education and community service programs.
