C.A.S.T. 24 hours of Theater Production

The Carroll Aspiring Stage Theatrics will be offering its second annual 24 hours of theater with a production.
This is something many colleges and universities stage to introduce performing arts students to different aspects of creating a theater production.
What generally takes up to 12 weeks to produce, C.A.S.T. is going to make happen in one day.
The synopsis is simple. Take between two and three dozen people who have the desire to be involved and want to try something new without the many weeks of commitment, have them toss their name into the hats of their choice representing the different theater responsibilities: playwright, director, actor, stage / set crew, secretarial / publicity, costuming, hair / makeup.
Then beginning at 9 p.m. July 31, names are pulled and the work begins. The next 24 hours are a whirlwind of activity in the preparation for staging the written works. By 6 p.m. Aug. 1, when the doors open to the public, the C.A.S.T. will have created four to six one-act plays. When the curtain opens at 6:30 p.m., the stage will be alive with theater fully written, directed, created and acted by your community theater group.
The audience may rate each performance to see which team created the most entertaining piece of theater.
Director Dorothy Fritz stated, “Last years production offered us drama, comedy, time travel, and romance and the scripts were set in different time periods from prehistoric through the 1970s and contained outlaws, crazy ladies, and misfits. There was something for everyone. Some of it works, some of it doesn’t, but all of it showcases the varied talents of the local community theater that consists of those aged from their 70s and may be retired to those in the single digits who barely know how to read and are just starting school. We encourage everyone to come out and support their local not for profit theater group. These folks are your neighbors, friends, co-workers and relatives. Let them know you are glad that Carrollton has a community theater performance group.“
Signup commitments are now being accepted. No experience is necessary, no audition is required.
Call Dorothy Fritz at (330) 627-2091 to be involved or to ask questions.
Participants should plan to arrive at the Old Villa Restaurant on Moody Avenue in Carrollton at 8:30 p.m. July 31 to begin work, and plan to remain until close of show around 9 p.m. Aug. 1.
The 24 Hours of Theater production will be offered without a ticket cost and a free will donation will be accepted and concessions will be available
