The youth of Greentree Allotment in Uniontown will be holding a collection for the USO of northern Ohio on July 3.
A door-to door collection of money and items needed by the troops will take place. A videotape will also be sent to the troops with messages and well wishes.
The fundraiser’s theme “Freedom isn’t Free” is to coincide with the Fourth of July Independence Day celebration.
Karen Kuntzman, mom of one of the teens and a daughter of a WWII veteran, is the organizer. She is working with Jeannie Soley, the care package coordinator for USO of northern Ohio at (330) 497-7628.
Kuntzman hopes the fundraiser will continue annually and include larger groups of local teens.
Fliers will be sent to the Greentree homes with a list of items needed by the troops before the collection day. The teens will pick up the donations and forward them to the USO office in North Canton to be packed up as individual care packages.
