Free mammograms
With support from the Northeast Ohio Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Aultman Carrollton now offers mammograms and encourages all Carroll County women older than 40 to attend an educational open house Feb. 26 at 1020 Trump Rd., Carrollton
The day includes free refreshments and breast health education from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and free breast exams and mammograms. Reservations are required for the exams and can be made by calling the Carroll County Health Department at (330) 627-4866.
In addition to the open house, Aultman Carrollton schedules mammogram appointments Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Board-certified radiologists read mammography films and provide a fast referral to the Aultman Breast Care Center in the Canton hospital if a suspicious area is discovered. Mammograms are covered every 12 months by Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurance for women 40 and older, or younger and more frequently in certain cases. For those without insurance, programs exist to assist in covering the cost.
