Golf scramble benefit

A Lake Township family is memorializing the loss of their first-born child, Thomas A. Rennecker, with an annual golf outing to benefit other local children and families being cared for in Aultman Hospital’s Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
The fifth annual memorial golf outing is July 12 at Skyland Pines Golf Club, at 3550 Columbus Rd. NE in Canton. The shotgun start of the four-man scramble begins at 9 a.m.
Scott and Julie Rennecker, parents of the 8-day-old born Jan. 14, 2005, invite the community to help raise funds to make the emotional NICU experience easier for the many families spending a lot of time at the hospital. Proceeds help fund supplies for a monthly support group, family lounge and other items needed for the private-room unit that cares for the tiniest and most high-risk newborns.
Cost is $90 per player or $360 per team
Contact Scott at (330) 284-3841 or jrenne1428@aol.com to register. Hole sponsorships and monetary and prize donations also are welcome.
The Aultman Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is the only level III perinatal facility from Canton to Columbus, delivering specialized care for premature and high-risk babies. The staff’s mission is to nurture the family's role as caregivers. The unit has 25 private patient rooms where specially trained medical professionals care for the babies. A group called Preemie Parent Connection meets the second Wednesday of each month, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., in the NICU Family Lounge for current and “graduated” families to support and learn from each other while their babies grow.
