Greater Alliance Carnation Festival

The 2009 Greater Alliance Carnation Festival is nearly two weeks of parades, food and fun throughout the city.
A three-day outdoor RibFest with live musical entertainment at Carnation Mall kicks off the festival July 30.
The festival officially begins Aug. 9 with a kick-off parade from Park and Main streets to Glamorgan Castle at 1 p.m. The Carnation Queen will be crowned and her court will be selected at 7 p.m.
Ice cream socials, a hot-air balloon lift-off, men’s and women’s golf scrambles, and many more events take place during Festival Week.
Carnation Days in the Park, with food, crafts displays and free live entertainment, is Aug. 12 through Aug. 15 in Silver Park .
On Aug. 15, the Grand Parade featuring more than 120 units steps off in the morning, and a spectacular fireworks show is presented in the evening.
