Tom Strauss, president and CEO of Summa Health Systems, will be the keynote speaker at the annual OPEN M benefit dinner at 6 p.m. March 6, at the Martin University Center on the campus of the University of Akron.
The event also will feature entertainment by The Four Lads.
The dinner raises money for the OPEN M Free Medical Clinic and the agency’s overall mission.
Cost is $75 per person.
Reservations are due by Feb. 19 and can be made by calling OPEN M at (330) 434-0110, Ext. 414.
The need for free health care services has risen dramatically since the recession began in 2008. Last year nearly 3,000 patient visits were done at the OPEN M Free Clinic.
Volunteer nurses and medical assistants performed nearly 1,400 lab tests while the pharmacy filled more than 6,400 prescriptions.
OPEN M anticipates demand will continue to grow in 2010.
The clinic is operated under the direction of Dr. Roger B. Chaffe.
