Polar Express tickets for Canton departure
Tickets for the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad’s popular “Polar Express” train rides, leaving from Canton, go on sale Oct. 21 at www.CVSR.com. Rides from Canton are being offered the first three weeks in December: Dec. 3-5, Dec. 10-12 and Dec. 17-19. All trips begin at 7 p.m. and leave from the Lincoln Highway Station at Tuscarawas Street W and Brown Avenue NW.
The Polar Express runs from Nov. 18 through Dec. 19 from both Rockside Station in Independence and Akron Northside Station. Those tickets have been on sale since Oct. 5 at www.CVSR.com.
Tickets are $35 standard seating for everyone ages 1 and older, and $50 for an upgraded ticket on selected nights.
The Polar Express train rides are based on the children’s book written by Chris Van Allsburg about a doubting young boy who takes a train ride to the North Pole on Christmas Eve.
The book is read during the trip. Passengers have their train tickets punched and chefs serve hot chocolate. Santa boards the train when it arrives at the North Pole. Children are encouraged to wear pajamas for this special trip to the North Pole.
Tickets are easier to obtain this year than in the past. Previously, people had to mail in a lottery form and wait to see if they were awarded tickets. Now with online ticketing, they instantly will know if the day and station they want is available, and, if not, what other dates still are open.
The Polar Express is offered by CVSR in partnership with the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and through a license agreement with Rail Events.
