St. Joseph’s Ox Roast Fair
The 46th annual St. Joseph’s Ox Roast Fair happens in Mantua from 6 to 11 p.m. July 17, 3 to 11:30 p.m. July 18, and noon to 10 p.m. July 19.
The festival features “fair food” favorites; live musical entertainment; an air-conditioned dining hall; an assortment of rides; games, contests and giveaways; more than $7,000 in main raffle prize drawings and hourly progressive drawings each day plus several specialty raffles; souvenir T-shirts and hats; tractor, truck and semi pulls; trade booths; indoor casino with instant bingo; karaoke; security; handicap accessibility; and clean grounds. Children also will enjoy “Kid’s Ox Land,” with children’s games including the duck pond, turtles and a few surprises, and face painting, and the Kiddie Tractor Pulls at 5:30 p.m. July 18.
The highlight of the fair is ox roast sandwiches and ox roast dinners.
Ox Roast Sandwiches are available in two locations on the fairgrounds. And Ox Roast Dinners will be served in the air-conditioned Hughes Hall featuring that same deep-pit roasted sirloin beef, plus real red skin mashed potatoes, secret recipe gravy, green beans, fresh fruit and salad bar, beverage and dessert.
Ox Roast Dinners are served from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Students from the Aurora School of Music will be entertaining in Hughes Hall.
Proceeds support the educational and sacramental ministries of St. Joseph’s Parish and School in Mantua.
St. Joseph’s Parish and School is at 4534 Pioneer Trail, in Mantua Township. Mantua is in northern Portage County on State Route 44, 10 miles north of Ravenna.
