Volunteering as a Family Training

Mark your calendars and spread the word that Volunteering as a Family Training is scheduled.
Saturday, March 20 at Fellowship Baptist Church (Canton), 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Lunch will be provided.
The overall goal of this training: “Will provide an overview of Hospice of Tuscarawas, Stark and Carroll Counties, and demonstrate how Family Volunteering makes a difference in a community.”
Participants will learn: about hospice care, how families can help, learn about family dynamics and much more.
This interactive family training will be conducted by hospice staff and professionals. It is designed to appeal to all age groups with projects that involve all members of the family unit.
At the conclusion of this training your family will have the opportunity to apply to volunteer as a family. Some examples of jobs that may be assigned to families are: raking leaves, gift wrapping, baking for a family, walking a patients dog, running errands, placing a birdfeeder and maintaining it for the patient’s pleasure, caroling, or planting flowers.
In addition to helping with our hospice families, there will be quarterly “Fun Family Activities” you may participate in. Your family will also be able to assist with our hospice fundraising activities.

You may be asking why should my family volunteer?
Family volunteering is a hands-on way to teach children the values of kindness, compassion, tolerance, community responsibility and good citizenship. When volunteering as a family, all family members can use their existing talents, learn new skills and feel valued for their contributions. And, it is fun!

We are currently accepting applications for this training but space is limited, so call the office
330 493-0126 as soon as possible, and ask to speak with the volunteer coordinator, Michelle Norris.
